Indianapolis Colts Take On Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, football fans. How are you? Everything good I trust on this fine early start to week 10 coming directly from Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.
Pre-match Highlights
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
In a similar vein the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
Opening Period Action
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
And we're off! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.
An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
Additional Week 10 Games
Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Chicago Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
What a feast. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the top contest of the day.
