News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Comeback for the Franchise
The actors are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.

The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed nearly all the previous films in the series.

The film's events are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several prominent actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.
