Liverpool's Star Extends Apology to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Salah said sorry to the group of players following the uproar from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match after criticising the club and suggesting his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has refused to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
He also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and securing victories.”
