President Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Tragic Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”
Public Support
Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to support those in need.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Legal Steps and Policy Adjustments
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop providing entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with his relatives.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
